Tips + Best Practices

Your Profile

Remember that candidates can view your profile, so it is important to add as much detail as possible so a candidate knows why they should work for your organization. The more information you put, the more likely candidates will want to apply to your jobs!

Quick Tip

set a good first impression

Your organization's profile picture shows up for candidates when they are searching for jobs. Make sure you set a good first impression by creating a robust profile!

Best Practices

  • Include a profile image (a publicly recognized brand image).

  • Add a description - highlight why a candidate would want to work with your company (ex. company benefits, perks, etc). The biggest complaint we hear from candidates is lack of compensation and benefits details.

  • Upload a video - take advantage of bringing your profile beyond a black & white experience.  Video allows you to tell a story and engage potential candidates. Even if you don't have a company video, you can create a video slideshow of images of the work environment, staff, leadership team, and/or clients you serve!

First impressions matter, especially given the changing face of healthcare with a lot of newcomers entering the workforce. It’s currently an employee market and you need to be thinking about their needs on how you make this mutually beneficial.

Candidate Search

In the Search tab, you can search for candidates, view a candidate's profile, and send them a message quickly and easily.

Quick Tip

narrow down your search

To narrow down your search, choose the required Role Type and use the Filter button to view all the advanced filter options.

Use the Radius filter to expand or narrow down your search radius. If you shrink your radius size, you will see candidates closer to your immediate area. By increasing your radius size, you will start to see candidates further away.

If you are looking for candidates who are willing to move for a job, make sure to take use of the Willing to Relocate filter!

Best Practices

Try various filters and test out what works best for your needs. For example:

  • If you want to be time efficient and have strict job requirements, then we encourage you to use as many filters to really narrow down the candidate group and meet your criteria exactly.

  • If you have looser requirements, try using the default search, allowing you to sift through more profiles.

Messaging

In the Messages tab, you will see all your message threads.

Example of a good message: "Hello. I viewed your profile and it looks like you could be a potential fit for one of our job openings. I would like to setup a time to virtually interview you. Does Tuesday at 3pm work?"

Quick Tip

Reach out right away!

If you find an interesting candidate, make sure to reach out to them immediately. Remember, there are many other employers also looking for great candidates, so you want to be the first.

Best Practices

When messaging a candidate, make sure to give them a reason to reply. Ask a question or provide a call to action in the message.

Example message with high response success:
"Hello, I viewed your profile and it appears you could be a potential fit for one of our job openings. I would love to connect and share more about our opportunity and highlight the benefits we can offer.  How would Tuesday at 3pm work for you?”

Other Call to Actions to use:

  • “I would like to setup a time to virtually interview you. Does Tuesday at 3pm work?"

  • “Would you be interested in learning more about the opportunity? Does Tuesday at 3pm work?"

Job Postings

When writing your job post description, make sure you showcase why someone should work for your organization. Give them a good reason to apply to your job. What sets your organization apart from other employers?

Quick Tip:

transparency is everything

From a focus group conducted by Caring Support in February 2022, candidates unanimously emphasized the importance of transparency in a job posting. They want to see the salary, benefits and perks, and what exactly the job will entail. They want the details to be right to the point of what will be involved (don't beat around the bush).

Best Practices:

We often recommend keeping job postings up for a week. At the end of the week, close the job and repost it. Candidates are alerted with new job posts, plus aging jobs will not receive the same level of attention.

Academia

Caring Support recognizes the importance of the Academia channel as it relates to our healthcare clients’ future of planning their staff over a longer period of time and build stronger relationships with Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI). It is our goal to create connections in order to streamline and standardize this process.

In the Academia tab, you can view and reach out to the PSIs who are on the Caring Support platform. PSIs have the ability to share their students/alumni with your organization, and you can instant message with these candidates and/or PSI.

You can message PSIs right from the Academia Search. This is the same feature functionality as messaging Candidates.

Quick Tip:

call to action is key

When reaching out to PSIs, make sure you communicate clearly and professionally, introducing yourself and stating your intentions. Remember, there are many other employers also looking for great candidates, so you want to be their first choice when recommending students/alumni.

When messaging a PSI, provide a reason to reply. Ask a question or provide a call to action in the message.

Best Practices:

Depending on the size of your organization we recommend a specialised person be responsible for this channel. This will facilitate consistency in messaging and user experience streamlining the process.

Example message with high response success:
"Hello, this is Carl from ACME Healthcare. We haven’t spoken yet but would be curious to learn more about your organization and how we could mutually benefit each other.  Do you have some time on Tuesday at 3pm to have a virtual meeting?”

Other Call to Actions to use:

  • “I would like to setup a time to connect virtually and learn more about the types of healthcare role types you support. Does Tuesday at 3pm work?”

  • “I would love to connect and share more about our opportunity and highlight the benefits we can offer. How would Tuesday at 3 PM work?”
