Ontario Colleges Now Accepting Applications for Accelerated Personal Support Workers Program

Registration for the new accelerated and tuition-free PSW training program is available through the Ontario College Application Service for students looking to graduate by next fall, as well as in-process PSW students who started the program at one of these colleges back in January and are now eligible for a tuition grant.

Health Canada approves AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine

Add another win to Canada's fight against COVID-19! A third vaccine, Oxford University-AstraZeneca, has been approved by Health Canada and will bring millions more inoculations in the next couple of months. Although this vaccine will need two doses (just like Moderna and Pfizer, already approved in Canada) this newly approved vaccine can be stored in an average fridge, which will expand options for Canada's roll-out plans.

Ontario Invests in Historic Campaign to Accelerate Training for Personal Support Workers

The Ontario government is investing over $115 million to train up to 8,200 new personal support workers (PSWs) for high-demand jobs in Ontario's health and long-term care sectors. In collaboration with Colleges Ontario, all 24 publicly assisted colleges will offer this innovative, fully funded program starting in April 2021. This is part of the government's Long-Term Care Staffing Plan, one of the largest PSW recruitment and training drives in the province's history.
