Revolutionary Cooling Fabrics Combat Extreme Heat

Abstract:

Scientists at UMass Amherst have developed a flexible, chalk-based coating that cools fabric by up to 15°F, offering relief in extreme heat. This innovation, alongside other efforts like nanodiamond-coated fabrics, aims to make cooling clothing affordable and scalable, potentially reducing reliance on climate-polluting air conditioning.
