Pneumonia Deaths Rise as COVID-19 Fatalities Fall in Canada

Abstract:

Statistics Canada reports pneumonia became the sixth-leading cause of death in 2024, with fatalities up 20% year over year, mainly among seniors. Meanwhile, COVID-19 deaths fell by nearly 37%. Dementia-related deaths rose, while overall life expectancy in Canada continued to increase.
