Premier Doug Ford of Ontario promised to expand private clinics in early 2023 in an effort to shorten surgical wait times. Recent research, however, indicates that this endeavor has not been very successful. Less than 10,000 more surgeries have been moved to private clinics since the announcement, despite the government's best efforts, suggesting a minimal effect on reducing hospital workloads.
