Gene-Editing Treatment Shows Promise for Lowering Cholesterol

Abstract:

A small clinical study found that a single CRISPR-based treatment reduced LDL cholesterol and triglycerides by nearly half for more than a year. The experimental therapy targets a liver gene linked to cholesterol regulation. While the results are promising, researchers stress that larger clinical trials and long-term safety monitoring are still needed.
