Abstract:

Protein is essential, but most healthy adults already get enough from a balanced diet. Overconsumption, especially via processed “high-protein” products, may not be necessary. Experts recommend getting protein from varied, whole food sources. Unless you’re undernourished or training intensely, your focus should be on overall nutrition, not protein supplements.
