Cancer Cases Rising in Canada Despite Declining Rates

Abstract:

Canada expects over 250,000 new cancer cases and nearly 90,000 deaths in 2026. While rates are declining for many cancers, overall prevalence remains high. Lung cancer leads in diagnoses and deaths. Some cancers are increasing, especially among younger populations, highlighting the need for improved prevention, vaccination, and early screening efforts.
