Paramedics, firefighters, and nurses top the list of the jobs most respected by Canadians, according to a recently published survey by Maru Public Opinion. Farmers, medical doctors, and paramedics round out the top five occupations on the list. The survey was conducted in four waves of more than 1,500 samples among randomly selected Canadians.
Medical Association Says Healthcare Worker Burnout Has Doubled Since Pandemic
“Our health-care system and the health workers are in a state of crisis we've never seen,” has said Dr. Katharine Smart, president of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), who assures the rate of burnout is double what it was pre-pandemic. In light of this situation, the CMA, the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and others have developed "health human resources solutions designed to rebuild Canada’s healthcare workforce", including retention bonuses and mental health support.
